Phone Conversation With Amber at 2pm

Today they found that the tumor in his pituitary gland is gone and no other abnormalities were found. They did find 1/2 of his cerebellum is extremely swollen. The cerebellum is the part that attaches to your spine and it is swollen around the brain stem . That is what controls and moderates your walking, gate, your motor function it also regulates your sleep cycle and awakens and since it is really swollen that is why Tucker is having those problems. The first thought side effect of medicine (methotrexate) that is the spinal tap chemo. But they have decided that it is NOT the reason for Tuckers condition. They think now that 1/2 part of Tuckers cerebellum is infected, has a virus right now. It could be a multiple number of virus most of them they do not treat they correct themselves over time and heal itself. There are a few viruses they could treat with medicine, they are going to test for those treatable viruses.
They also think, when Tucker had his MRI they put him under with Versed . When Tucker started coming too, he was talking and lucid and would do tasks and was very clear. Versed is also the medicine that is used to treat seizers so they are going off the hypothesis that maybe his brain might be having seizures but we are going down at 3pm for a EEG test and that test brain waves and see if they can see some seizure. The neurologist was in the room when Tucker was coming too and they all thought it was interesting that Tucker's symptoms seemed to improve while on Versed. Two of the neurologist had seen Tucker the night before and were astounded with the change in him coming off of the versed. There may be a connection or may not but it is something they are looking into.
There are many different department that are brain storming and trying to figure out what is going on with all of Tucker's symptoms. He is a very special child that making very bright intelligent people stay up at night and reviewing medical books. He is ONE for the medical journal and Amber feels like she is on Grey's Anatomy. Amber actually saw McDreamy at the cafeteria and also has nicked name one doctor Dr. Doolittle because he is a fresh faced, college graduate with 8 pagers and very little people skills.
Now we do not know when we get to go home it is up in the air and they won't even talk about with me.
They have Tucker on a morphine that keeps the headaches down without throwing up.
It looks like the chemo and steroids have already starting doing their job. The tumor that was on his pituitary gland on Friday is now GONE. They don't think his cancer or his medicine (for right not) are connected to his brain swelling (although I sense that it is otherwise it would be a big coincidence ) but they are not stopping his treatment. This is Amber's interpretation of what they told her at noon and all this information could change very soon. Since it is a lot to process and a lot of big words. And quit frankly they don't know either. But they are working very hard to figure and Tucker has stumped a lot of very smart people. He is keeping them on their toes giving their very expensive education a run for their money.
Tucker has a full time personal nurse and is being very well taken care of. Irish was Tucker's nurse yesterday and he was suppose to go home at 7pm and stayed until 9pm because he couldn't quit leave his Tucker yet, until he was comfortable. Irish has already called twice to day to check on Tucker.
Hopefully they will have more information tonight.
